OUR STORY
The story of GJ Auto Repair Centre started long before the opening date back in 2015. It started over 45 years ago when Gary Robertson left school and started working for his parents, repairing cars. In 1982, ‘Corbett Robertson’ was opened, and this is where Gary learnt the art of running a successful bodyshop. Along the way, James (Gary’s son) joined the team as an apprentice and followed in his dad's footsteps. Due to the retirement of Gary’s parents, Corbett Robertson was closed, making way for ‘GJ Auto Repair Centre’—Gary & James.
Still in the same location, GJ Auto Repair Centre decided to go in a different direction. They dropped the insurance-fed work and decided they wanted to focus on QUALITY over quantity. Due to a customer’s right of being able to choose any bodyshop to have work carried out, GJ Auto Repair Centre still carries out insurance work but on their terms. They focused on continuing to build their reputation as one of the best in Greater Manchester and now have a loyal customer base, fleet management contracts, and preferred supplier status for local businesses.
You will often see Gary’s wife Nicola, daughter Sophie, daughter-in-law Emily, and his dogs Teddy and Frank in the office. There is a mix of old and new faces on the shop floor, from Gary’s childhood friend Ronnie to Sam, who is all the way from Australia. The small knit team make the magic happen and with many years joint experience, are the best in the business.
